Balanced Snacks and Mini Meals
I spoke to a lovely group of moms this week at University Presbyterian Church. It's important to balance snacks as well as meals for you and your children. What do I mean by balance? You can find easy ways to add some important protein, healthy fat and fiber in addition to the readily available carbohydrates. Protein provides building blocks for growth and development. Protein, fat and fiber (from complex carbohydrates) help slow the release of blood sugar.
Kefir, Blueberries and Chia seeds
I have found many protein/veggie patties that are delicious. This is a Superfood Veggie Cake I found in the frozen aisle at the store.
Don't forget your nut-free option: Sunflower butter sandwiches on raisin bread in place of jam. Kids love them!
